Because of major growth in their sales, San-J International, maker of gluten-free soy sauce, outgrew their existing facility in Virginia. This project doubles the size of the production areas. The project consists of a 41,500 SF main production addition and a 15,000 SF, 70’ tall raw material building. Construction is conventional steel frame with insulated metal panel walls.
Because of the small site with difficult constraints, functional areas of the building were arranged like a puzzle, with each piece placed just right. New parking areas, truck loading docks and accessways, raw material deliveries, new site utilities, and landscaping all needed to be accommodated on the site. LAE worked closely with the local civil engineer in the development of the site design and through the rigorous permitting process.
