Livermore Architecture & Engineering designed a two-phase tenant improvement project for JHI Engineering’s newly purchased building. The first phase consisted of alterations to provide new accessible toilet rooms, showers, and lockers, to allow the company to move temporarily to the first floor. The second phase is a major renovation to the second floor to provide a permanent home for JHI. LAE successfully navigated a complex permitting process with the City of Portland, including required site improvements.

The design is characterized by a large open office area with daylighting from both sides. Interior glass offices and conference rooms add to the sense of transparency and openness. A dramatic folding glass wall allows the conference room top open up for larger gatherings. JHI’s industrial client base is referenced by reclaimed wood and steel accents.
