R+L Carriers’ Portland transfer facility expansion was designed to be a structurally independent building to double the capacity of their cross-dock area. Livermore Architecture & Engineering helped develop a site plan and addition that allowed for greater flow of traffic and organization. The new expansion specifically created a more efficient layout in transferring material between trucks.
Upon discovering that the site had poor soil quality, LAE designed the new foundations to use geofoam where normal infill would have been used. LAE also coordinated with the metal building manufacturer and a landscape architect to ensure an accurate representation of R+L Carriers’ desires for both their building and site.
